From Pueblo to the Pros—and Beyond
I grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, a true blue-collar town where the steel mill was the heart of the community. Both of my parents were teachers, and my dad ran a student exchange program, which meant our home was always full of new faces and perspectives. Those early experiences sparked my love for soccer and taught me the value of teamwork, adaptability, and hard work from an early age.

Lessons from the Field
I earned my master’s degree in accounting from the University of Denver, playing four years of college soccer and never missing a single game—learning the importance of consistency and discipline along the way. Despite not being drafted, I earned a spot on the Colorado Rapids through sheer determination, making my professional debut against the LA Galaxy in June 2003. That standout performance launched my 14-year pro career, which included two seasons in Norway’s top league and 12 years in Major League Soccer. I played over 400 games, won two MLS Cups, earned MLS Best XI honors, and was honored as Team MVP and Defender of the Year for Real Salt Lake.
Throughout my career, I played alongside athletes from all over the world, each with their own language, culture, and approach to the game. Those experiences taught me the power of diversity, leadership, and the importance of building strong teams—lessons I carry with me every day.
Building a New Team in Real Estate
My journey in real estate began in the early 2000s with a $5,000 investment in a single-family home. Over the years, I expanded into apartments and, in 2020, made the leap into commercial real estate. Today, I’m a long-term investor focused on value-add opportunities, specializing in multi-tenant buildings and micro-suite spaces. My first foray into this asset class was the 45th Parallel Building—a project that reinforced my belief in the power of preparation, teamwork, and community engagement.
I approach every investment with the same intensity and discipline I brought to the field. Potential investors know that I do my homework, prepare thoroughly, and surround myself with an excellent team. We’re efficient, we communicate clearly, and—most importantly—we have fun doing what we do.
Beyond the Boardroom
Beyond the Boardroom
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my wife, Crystal, our kids, Lincoln and Denley, and our cat, Taco. I stay active as a member of the futsal team, the Blue Unicorns, and enjoy high-intensity interval training and Peloton rides.
